Overview
A 24,000 m PROASP spool holds three times the running length of a conventional 8,000 m roll. For an equivalent production length that can mean up to 66% fewer changeovers — three roll changes become one.
Every changeover costs more than the minute it takes to mount a new roll. It costs the run-up back to speed, the gum and LD-film lost at the splice, and the attention of an operator who was doing something else. Removing two changeovers out of every three removes those costs with them.
The spool format is supplied on both metallised and plain polyester base films, in spool winding and pancake winding, and slit to the widths your line runs. Because the format affects unwind diameter, tension and handling, the construction is confirmed against your line before supply rather than quoted from a fixed specification sheet.

It compares changeover count for an equivalent production length. Running 24,000 m from conventional 8,000 m rolls requires three mounts; the same length from one PROASP spool requires one. That is two changeovers removed out of three, or up to 66% fewer. It is stated as a changeover reduction, not as a guaranteed financial saving — the value of a changeover depends on your line.
Will the spool format run on our existing unwind?
That is confirmed before supply. The spool carries three times the length, which affects diameter, weight, tension control and handling. Share your unwind type and maximum roll capacity and the team will confirm whether the format suits your line as it stands or needs adjustment.
What is the difference between spool winding and pancake winding?
Both are extended-length formats. Spool winding puts the film on a flanged spool, which suits narrow widths and high-speed unwinds. Pancake winding builds a flat, large-diameter reel on a plain core. Which one suits you depends on your unwind and how the reel is handled at the machine, so tell the team what you run.
Can we trial it before committing?
