Industry
Peel-and-stick roofing underlayments and shingle constructions depend on a release film that stays dimensionally stable and releases predictably after storage at elevated temperature. That is a harder requirement than a typical label liner faces.
PP and PET release-film constructions are selected against the adhesive system and the temperature conditions the product will actually see — through storage, transport and application — rather than against ambient bench conditions.
Because these products are produced in wide formats and long runs, changeover frequency and slit width both matter to line economics.
Release behaviour after hot storage is not the same as release behaviour off the coating line. Conditions have to be specified up front.
Wide-web constructions expose any tendency of the base film to move under tension and temperature.
Self-adhesive membrane adhesives are demanding on release systems, and the liner must be developed against the specific chemistry.
High-volume lines are sensitive to changeover frequency, which extended-length formats address.
These are the properties that decide whether a material works in this sector — and the ones worth being specific about when you enquire.
A starting point, not a specification. Final suitability should be confirmed through technical discussion and application testing.
