Industry context
E-commerce and courier packaging needs a closure that shows whether it was opened in transit. Tamper-evident tape supplied to poly-mailer and courier-envelope converters becomes that closure: an attempt to open and reseal the bag reveals visible VOID evidence that resealing does not reverse.
This matters commercially as much as it does operationally. Visible evidence at the seal helps establish where a problem occurred rather than leaving the seller, the carrier and the customer to argue about it, and it lets the closure carry brand identity rather than reading as generic tape.
Where constructions call for it, a thermochromic heat indicator exposes heat-assisted opening attempts — a common approach to lifting a seal without obvious damage.
What makes this difficult
Interference that leaves no trace
A seal that can be lifted and reapplied cleanly gives the recipient nothing to inspect. VOID evidence makes the attempt permanent.
Heat-assisted opening
Applying heat can soften a conventional seal enough to lift it. Applicable constructions include an indicator that changes colour to expose the attempt.
Disputed liability across the chain
Without evidence at the closure, responsibility for a missing item is difficult to establish between seller, carrier and recipient.
Security closures that slow the bag line
A security feature that will not run at production speed does not get adopted. Liner and construction are configured to the converting line.
